The shrilling sound of my alarm,
Urging me out of the bed,
The heart fights with the brain for an extra hour of sleep.

Shoes are tightly laced,
Muscles are stretched,
And, Music is on.
The personal goal is set to reach a new mile.

The heartwarming colour of the rising sun,
Letting the peace and calm of nature lighten my mind.

The trees are dancing with the rhythm of the music,
The air tickling my face, flowing in the opposite direction,
Motivating my tired legs to move even faster.

A few more steps are taken,
The first mile feels tough.
Each Breath is struggling to match the momentum,
The reach of the sweat has increased,
Started falling from forehead to neck.
Still, the pace is up.

After minutes later & far from the starting point,
The heart says, stop & rest.
Yet the brain desires to taste the happiness of achieving at its best.
Body is afraid of muscle pain and whining.
But, every inch of the skin is feeling a sensation of winning.

Blood pumping, harder stronger & faster,
Breath is catching,
Wet hair touching my face,
Body drenched in the dripping sweat,
The Shoulder & the hands are sore,
Asking not to go further anymore.

Without losing the momentum,
I twitched my hand & stretch my shoulder,
Ready for the extra miles.

Minutes after minutes,
The heart is syncing with the brain,
And, has started dancing together as,
The reward that awaits,
a personal best.

Step after Step,
Heartbeat is intense,
Breath is fired,
Feet are struggling,
And the calf is tired.
But my determined body is
bringing me closer to the victory.

Still, each step is combating the battle.

As time moves,
Muscles get more exhausted,
My body wants a break,
and a full bottle of water,
But endurance test needs to be passed.

The endpoint is now visible,
the last few miles.

Mind is patting the shoulders,
Stretched the lips for a winning smile,
My hands pull the wet hair behind my ears with pride.

Clock is ticking,
Checking the time,
Pushing myself,
across that finishing line.

Aches and pains,
Can this be fun?

It is the reward of personal achievement.
Mind Shouts,
Yes, Running extra miles is happier than sleep for an extra hour.

Still,
It is only understood,
Once you Start!
